Mare Britannicum focuses on the stories set in the landscape of the northern French coast. Inspired by the tradition of landscape photography, the visual image is used to convey the complex layers of human experiences and interventions. The landscapes are not mere backdrops; they bear witness to the stories of the many who have sought refuge in the shadows of the coastline. There, men, women and children live in small camps, waiting for a chance to risk the dangerous crossing to the UK in rickety boats.

This series goes beyond traditional documentary photography to installations with textiles and video. The textile works, which refer to both domestic and luxury objects, provide a conscious contrast to the diverse lives we lead. In addition, textiles, blankets and tarpaulins provide essential protection for those who have to survive in these unforgiving conditions.
